Killybegs Jet Lady is an eye-catching mare by Jet Away, out of Little Twinkle, who has shown progressive form and a likeable attitude throughout her career.
She built a strong, progressive profile in Irish point-to-points, recording form figures of 4-3-2-1, improving with each run. Her time between the flags culminated in an emphatic 18-length victory at Borris House, a performance that continues to look strong, with several horses behind her going on to win subsequently.
Since joining Lucinda Russell, she has shown herself to be a mare with plenty of ability, albeit one who has taken time to fully find her rhythm under Rules. A “slow burner” in the yard’s words, she has benefited from a clearer understanding of her ideal conditions, with better ground proving key.
She made an encouraging start over fences, finishing second on debut behind a progressive rival who has since gone on to win multiple times, and shaping as though chasing would suit her well. Her subsequent run at Hexham is best forgiven, as she was travelling well and jumping soundly when, unfortunately, brought down.
She quickly put that behind her with a very encouraging effort back at Hexham, finishing second in a competitive contest. Racing on more suitable ground, she travelled strongly throughout, jumped with increasing fluency, and showed a determined attitude to rally in the closing stages, pulling clear of the remainder despite the winner having a significant weight advantage.
Her sire, Jet Away, is a proven source of high-class National Hunt performers, while her dam, Little Twinkle, adds further depth to a pedigree built for stamina and jumping.
Killybegs Jet Lady is a genuine, progressive mare who is now beginning to put everything together over fences. With conditions to suit and confidence building, she looks well placed to go one better in the near future, and there is every indication that she can continue to progress as the season develops.
There are no other partners in this horse, so once 2,000 shares are sold, 100% of the horse will be owned by Old Gold Racing owners.
Unlike other syndicates, Old Gold Racing does not charge owners VAT. This means that there is no need to reclaim VAT and that a share represents a greater proportion of the racehorse.
At the end of the syndicate term any unspent funds are returned to owners pro-rata. These funds can be withdrawn or used against the cost of renewing or purchasing a share.
